What is scratch-off foil for hot stamping?

Scratch-off foil is a hot stamping foil engineered for concealment printing — it hides PINs, codes and promotional messages until the consumer scratches the layer away. Built on our hot stamping foil platform, it combines a clean-release coating, a high-opacity masking layer and a heat-activated adhesive that bonds securely to coated paper, cardstock, PET and PVC cards.

Where scratch-off foil is used

Lottery and instant-win tickets, prepaid and gift cards, loyalty and promotional scratch cards, tamper-evident security labels, and scratch-to-reveal codes on cosmetics and F&B packaging. It runs on standard flatbed and rotary presses, including our XG1080G fully automatic hot stamping machine.

Clean removal & opacity

The engineered release layer prevents flaking, tearing and residue on the substrate, while single- or multi-layer masking fully conceals printed codes and barcodes until scratched. Stock silver and gold are available from inventory; custom Pantone matching, holographic and matte/gloss finishes are produced to order.

Specs & ordering

BOPET base film in 12 / 19 / 23 µm, heat-seal adhesive, custom slit widths. Food- and skin-contact-safe grades available for gift card and promotional work.
